Dal Tadka is a very famous north Indian Dal (pulse) which is very much enjoyed with cumin rice (zeera rice). Along with its taste, Dal(pulse) Tadka is very much nutritious, we can easily prepare it in a very short span of time. Everyone is very well aware that Dal(pulse) is a very good source of protein, so we must include Dal(pulse) in our daily diet and today we will prepare Dal Tadka.

Ingredients For Dal Tadka Recipe:
Tuvar(Arhar) dal – ½ cup
Split green gram skinless (dhuli moong dal) – quarter cup
Red Lentils(Masoor) dal – ½ cup
Tomato -1 (finely chopped)
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Coriander leaves – 2 tsp (chopped)
Salt – as per your taste
For Seasoning:
Oil – 2-3 tsp
Cumin Seeds -1 tsp
Asafoetida -1 pinch
Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
Whole Red Chilly -1/2

Method To Make Dal Tadka:

  • First of all clean and wash raw dal(pulses) thoroughly .
  • Now put all dal(pulses) in pressure cooker alongwith 2-3 cup of water,chopped tomatoes, salt and turmeric powder.
  • Now mix them properly and close the lid of pressure cooker.
  • Now place the cooker on the gas and Once you hear 2-3 whistle of the cooker, turn off the gas.
  • Now when the pressure of the cooker is over, remove the lid of the cooker and mash the dal very well by running of the spoon. If you are feeling that dal(pulse) is little thick, then add little boiled water into it as per your requirement.
  • Now we will season the dal(pulse). To add season in the dal(pulse), we will heat oil on medium heat in a pan. When hot add asafoetida(heeng) and cumin seeds to crackle it. Now add chopped onion and fry it till it gets golden brown and now add whole red chilly and fry it for a minute.
  • Now turn off the gas and pour the prepared season(tadka) into the dal(pulse).
  • Now to garnish the dal tadka with chopped coriander leaves.

Finally your dal tadka is ready to serve. Enjoy it with family or loved ones.
